Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators
The purpose of the Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators (BENHA) is to promote an increase in the quality of care in Ohio’s nursing homes and assist in providing nursing homes for Ohio’s elderly that are healthy, safe, and dignified. The board believes that quality nursing care is directly linked to home management by a qualified nursing home administrator.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators develops and enforces standards for nursing home administrators; formulates appropriate examinations; and issues, revokes, and suspends licenses. The board investigates complaints; evaluates and approves continuing education courses to meet license renewal requirements; controls an ongoing trainee program for prospective nursing home administrators; and maintains a register of all licensed nursing home administrators and trainees.
